Insurance for Farm Jeeps
Most farms have jeeps and we recommend that you always insure them on your farm policy under the agricultural vehicle section. Farm Jeeps do not need or earn a “no claims bonus”. This means that you can “save” your no claims bonus for your private car. Farm jeeps can be any age – brand new or an old vehicle.
These jeeps can, in theory, be insured for use on the farm only or for farm plus social, pleasure and domestic use. We always recommend that you insure them for the wider use. In fact, we don’t offer farm use only – as we believe it’s far too restrictive.
We can add on any young driver once he or she has a full licence to any 2 seater jeep , van or 5 seater crew cab. The young driver will be named and the policy will be open driving for anybody aged between 25 and 70 with a full licence. Additional premiums for adding the young driver will depend on his or her age.
Farm Insurance Questions To Ask Before You Renew
- Have I bought any new farm machinery?
- Have I knocked down any farm buildings or erected any new buildings?
- Have I bought any new farm vehicles?
- What changes have I made to my farm livestock?
- Have I increased or reduced my farm acreage (whether bought or rented)?
- Have I changed my type of farming?
We will send you out your farm insurance renewal notice one month before your farm policy is due for renewal. This should be your reminder to ask yourself (and tell us) what has changed on your farm over the past year. We find that many farmers are continually making improvements, small and large, to their farms. Examples of small improvements include things like installing new fencing or posts, upgrading sheds and tanks, strengthening outbuildings, adding an alarm system or CCTV and maybe even acquiring additional land.
Some of these things need to be notified to your insurer and others could lead to a reduction in premium. So, take the annual arrival of your farm insurance renewal notice as a reminder to give us a ring and talk about your farm. Armed with this updated information, our team of farm insurance experts will approach the various insurance companies on your behalf and obtain terms and quotations. They will then be able to go through the various offers with you before your farm insurance renewal date. This will let you make a fully informed decision as to what level of cover you need and what your premium will be for the coming insurance year.
